Migration Update: Three apps, now one

Where we are with moving everyone onto PlotTech v3 — and what it means for you and your team.

Some of you are already using PlotTech v3 every day. Some of you are booked in for the coming weeks. And some of you haven't heard a date yet.

Wherever you sit on that list, this update is for you. Here's where we're up to, what's changing, and what we'll need from you when your turn comes round.

PlotTech v3 replaces PlotSnag, PlotFire and PlotBREL. Over time we'll be decommissioning those three mobile apps, so every account will be migrated onto the new platform — not just new customers, and not just the sites we've started with.

We're doing it in stages rather than all at once, which is why some teams are already on v3 while others are still waiting. Nobody gets left behind on the old apps.

Quality, Energy and Fire now live under one system. One app. One login. One plot list. You open a plot and tab between Quality, Energy and Fire rather than closing one app and opening another.

It's simpler for the people on site, and it means we're maintaining and improving one platform instead of three. That's better for everyone: fixes land faster, features arrive across all three capabilities at once, and there's a single place to look when something needs checking.

A lot of the evidence you capture gets reviewed by someone outside your business — SAP assessors being the obvious example. We've rebuilt that side of things as well, with a dedicated Reviewer Portal for external assessors.

The first stage of that migration with several of our key SAP assessment partners has gone very well. Where your assessors are affected, we'll continue to communicate with them directly on your behalf as your migration takes place. You shouldn't need to project-manage that relationship through the change.

Depending on how your account is set up, we'll typically migrate you site by site rather than everything in one go. That keeps the risk low and means your team is only ever learning one site's worth of change at a time.

Some accounts are more straightforward than others. Where there's a lot of history, multiple capabilities in play, or external reviewers to coordinate, it takes a little longer. Thank you for your patience with that — we'd rather get it right than get it quick.

When your migration is scheduled, we'll send documentation ahead of the date. Please read it, and please make sure the people actually using the app on site read it too.

It's short, it's written for site teams rather than IT, and it sets out exactly what's expected of you and what we'll handle. The migrations that go smoothest are the ones where the team has had five minutes with the guidance beforehand.
